Scope and Contents

The Book of Brothers was a project by Brother Alfred Brousseau compiled in 1985-1986. The project was the first attempt to compile a comprehensive list of Brothers who received the habit in the Novitiate of the District of San Francisco. The project is published in three volumes, Volume 1: 1868-1919; Volume 2: 1920-1943; and Volume 3: 1944 - 1959. Volumes 1 and 2 have companion volumes that include photographs of each of the Brothers (when available). At the end of each volume there are two indices, one listed by religious name and the other by the secular name.

Our Deceased Brothers, volume 3, contains the biographies of Brothers Alvin Maluvius (d. April 28, 1984), Leonard Casper (d. May 19, 1984), and Lewis Parrot (d. June 24, 1984). This volume was published in October 1984.

Also included is the 1986, 1990-1991, and 2000-2001 Curriculum Vitae of the District Brothers. This project, also undertaken by Brother Brousseau, was an attempt to collect the biographical and professional information of the active Brothers of the San Francisco District. Additionally there are San Francisco District Brothers of the Christian Schools directories for the 1986, and 1989-1993 years.
