Scope and Contents

The Academic and Student Life series contains materials related to the student experience during the early years of the college. Materials cover the commencement ceremonies, student periodicals, student compositions, associated students meeting minutes, gradebooks, academic prospectus' and rosters. Thes materials include formats such as clippings, photographs, artifacts, and ephemera.

Folders labeled by year; folders include photographs, invitations, programs, a bound "commemorative photo album" circa 1876, and photocopies of programs, all of which relate to commencements. Box contains a few photographs and slides from 1958-.

Scope and Contents One folder that contains newspaper clippings related to the Oakland campus, a "Dedication of St. Mary's College" pamphlet from 1889, commencement programs from 1924, a fundraising letter for the "golden jubilee" 50th anniversary that addresses fire and earthquake damage to the Oakland campus, "Application For Registration of Historical Point of Interest" for the brickpile campus, program for 1909 commencement, photocopied photographs of brothers and alumni, menu for alumni banquet, 2 stapled...

One folder containing "Invocation at the class of 1935" by Albert T. Shine, Jr., the same invocation printed on a piece of Albert T. Shine ephemera, and the 1937 "SMC Gael".
